Emily’s testimony about going on a mission:

“I didn’t choose to go on a mission because I thought it would be fun or because I get to take eighteen months off of exams and long, sleepless nights of homework. I chose to go on a mission because I know with all of my heart that this church is true and I want to be able to dedicate my time to share it with Heavenly Father’s children. I was in investigators’ shoes at one point in my life – I have never experienced such happiness nor a pure, exceedingly amount of joy in my heart until the missionaries knocked on my door five years ago.

Being a teenager, I always try to convince my parents that I know everything there is to know. I try to convince them that I’m always right and I don’t need their help with anything. But, if I am being honest, that’s not true at all. I don’t know half of the things I’ll know by the time I am 91. But what I do know is that God lives and loves each and every one of us. I know that He is our loving Father in Heaven, and we are His children. I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God and the Savior of the world. I know Joseph Smith is the prophet of God through whom the gospel of Jesus Christ was restored. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. And I know that President Thomas S. Monson, his counselors, and the members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles are the prophets, seers, and revelators in our day. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.”
