This young woman who is absolutely beautiful inside and out is putting her life on hold to serve an 18 month mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Utah, Salt Lake City Temple Square Mission. Emily will report to the Mission Training Center on May 18th and will spend the next 18 month’s teaching people the gospel of Jesus Christ and will do community service for people in that area. Best wishes for a great mission Emily!
Emily’s testimony about going on a mission:
“I didn’t choose to go on a mission because I thought it would be fun or because I get to take eighteen months off of exams and long, sleepless nights of homework. I chose to go on a mission because I know with all of my heart that this church is true and I want to be able to dedicate my time to share it with Heavenly Father’s children. I was in investigators’ shoes at one point in my life – I have never experienced such happiness nor a pure, exceedingly amount of joy in my heart until the missionaries knocked on my door five years ago.
Being a teenager, I always try to convince my parents that I know everything there is to know. I try to convince them that I’m always right and I don’t need their help with anything. But, if I am being honest, that’s not true at all. I don’t know half of the things I’ll know by the time I am 91. But what I do know is that God lives and loves each and every one of us. I know that He is our loving Father in Heaven, and we are His children. I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God and the Savior of the world. I know Joseph Smith is the prophet of God through whom the gospel of Jesus Christ was restored. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. And I know that President Thomas S. Monson, his counselors, and the members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles are the prophets, seers, and revelators in our day. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.”
